If You've Ever Worn Contacts

I got my first pair of glasses when I was six-years-old, so I couldn't wait to get contacts (it happened when I was 16, and it was life changing). Strangely enough, I gave up contacts once I had my first child (my eyes were too dry to wear them comfortably), but I still remember the thrill of my first pair of contacts.

Over the years, there have been changes in the industry (colored contacts, special ones for people with astigmatism, bifocal contacts and yes, decorative contacts). Here, from Oddee are some of the more unusual designs. I especially like the ones with Swarovski crystals. Those, I would brave the discomfort to wear to a party. How about you?

Here's the link for the rest of the story (and the rest of the contacts).

Best Wishes!

  1. I tried wearing contacts ONCE years ago. It felt like gravel in my eyes. No thank you, not even for vanity sake.

  2. Nope. Not happenin'. During the last two years, I have had SO MANY new allergies that I wouldn't want to take a chance with my eyes.

  3. My sister wore contacts before she had surgery... I have seen some crazy looking ones, but never heard of ones with Swarovski crystals. How does that work!?! My eyes are sensitive enough... just an eyelash in them drives me crazy...

  4. Mary, I hear you on the gravel, but contacts have come a long way. The hard ones were awful, but the soft, disposable ones aren't too bad.

Elaine, I don't have a lot of allergies, but makeup is one of the few things that bother me a lot. So, when I have to dress up and play author, I have to either choose makeup (I can handle it for a few hours) or contacts, but not both, since it's a double whammy.

Colleen, I'm not sure how those crystals work. They must be very thin and somehow embedded in the plastic so that there's no danger of scratching. Might be distracting, though. I wouldn't be sure if people were staring at my eyes or if I had dirt on my face.
