Sunflowers are Special

They really are. Maybe it's because so many of us are fascinated by things that grow so tall that they tip over at times, but there's just something rather magnificent about a sunflower.

Here's the story of the sunflower and its journeys, its history and its many uses complete with some absolutely gorgeous photography.

And don't forget to stop by this story to see (and read about) a sunflower that may end up setting a record.

  2. Gorgeous! Thank you! Sunflowers are not only my favorite flower, but one of my nicknames is "Sunflower". Not just a flower, but a symbol of strength and positivity, and a source of nourishment. What is more breathtaking than the brilliance of a field of sunflowers against a vivid blue sky? Pure pleasure : )

  4. Virginia, I love Sunflower as a nickname! It sounds so...glowing, so positive. I'm still looking for the perfect field of sunflowers. Someone on a another blog said that they grow wild in big fields in Texas (and maybe in California). Here in Illinois they grow them for profit, but I live in too urban an area. The only ones I see are the ones my neighbors manage to grow and somehow keep away from the squirrels.
