A couple of Bob Ross quotes (So many quotes on the Internet are wrong, but after checking all the available sources, I'm assuming these are the real deal).
"We want happy paintings. Happy paintings. If you want sad things, watch the news."
"People might look at you a bit funny, but it's okay. Artists are allowed to be a bit different."
I think of people like Bob Ross when I see comments on the Internet complaining that kids today should only major in fields like engineering and accounting where jobs are plentiful, and if they don't, they're idiots. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against engineers or accountants and have some very close and beloved family members who are in both of those fields, but...wouldn't the world be so much more sterile if there were no artists or dreamers? Bob Ross was an artist. He wasn't a Picasso or a Rembrandt, but...he made people happy. He taught people to paint and he made viewers feel good about painting. I think that's pretty special.
I never saw the documentary made about him, but the trailer makes me want to seek it out.
