How to Make a Table Topped with Pennies (and How to Make Other Awesome Things)
Instructables has their Best of 2012 list up, which included how to make a penny-topped desk and other interesting things. Some of those you've seen here before, such as How to Make Duct-tape Roses, but others were new to me (I loved the stuffed Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes).

Love the penny table.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAr!!!
Happy new year, you guys!
ReplyDeleteYa know, Feb 4/13 is the last day of the penny in Canada. From then on, change will be rounded up or down (but credit/debit cards will pay the exact amount). Makes one think about phrases like "a penny for your thoughts" being lost, somewhat like one would wonder when looking at the above table....
Mary, Happy New Year to you, too! (I love New Year's Day. It's like an unwritten slate).
ReplyDeleteElaine, I didn't know that. We've tried to get rid of the penny here, but it never happens even though pennies are more or less irrelevant these days. You're right about losing cultural references, though (and the ability to make a penny table). I hadn't even thought of that when I posted this. Now you have me thinking of all the ways pennies show up in our language.
