It's Bird Day!

I have a lot of friends and relatives who are bird watchers/lovers. Here's a parrot who channels Matthew McConaughey (although he--the parrot, that is--sounds more like someone's grandmother to me):

(By the way, I saw Interstellar in an IMAX theater yesterday--one of the big ones, not the newer ones--and it was impressive).

And this lyrebird sounds as if it's shooting a machine gun:

I'm not very good at identifying birds by their calls, but I find them interesting.

Have a fantastic day!

Oh, Those Scientists!

Slow day today. I'm a little under the weather. So, here is an interesting (and short) video that recounts how mankind went from wondering where birds went in the winter to having a pretty good clue where they are all the time. There's new (or at least new to me) information in here, and I watch a lot of nature videos, so perhaps you'll enjoy it, too.

(With the cold we're having here in Chicago right now, I might have to fly south).

Spring is Coming!

I saw my first robin of the season today. There's snow on the ground, but the robins are coming! So excited!Robin

A Parrot That Can't Pick Up on Body Language

One parrot wants some attention (and a kiss). The other...I'm not so sure. But you can't say that Jo Jo isn't persistent and quite a talker.

Dog and Bird Buddies

All this dog wanted was some noodles, but he couldn't reach them. Good thing his bird buddy is okay with feeding him.
