What If You Only Like Green Skittles?

Or red ones? Or orange ones? Or if you're just a very neat or fussy person? Well...here's a machine that can solve your problem by sorting your Skittles. It has a camera that scopes out each individual piece of candy to determine its color.

Sewing Machine Day

I'm not overly fond of sewing, but I'm glad that it was invented.

I have no idea if the story in this video is true, but it makes an interesting tale.

A Simple Solution to an Age-Old Problem

Okay, so not being able to get glass cleaner (or another solution) out of a spray bottle when it's tilted isn't exactly earth shattering. But it is annoying and inconvenient. Here's a simple solution (I haven't tried it yet, but it looks as if it would work).

A LEGO Candy Machine

This is a LEGO candy machine that the builder created when he was about 12 or 13. I don't know what he's doing now, but if I had to guess, I'd say engineer or inventor (or entrepreneur).



Update: I don't know why I was assuming the video maker was an adult. I looked at his YouTube channel and he's still quite young. I'm sure he has a successful future ahead if he can build something this clever and detailed.

An Optimistic View of the Future

This video is a tribute to those people who, by their big dreams, have changed the world. It's meant to inspire us to continue to dream.

I was a bit saddened and taken aback by a few in the comments section of YouTube who called it rubbish. Without the dreamers of the world, where would be be today? Thank goodness for those people who look to the future and make it better. (And no, I don't think all change is for the better. I know that sometimes costly mistakes are made, but...if the alternative is stagnation, I prefer the occasional mistake).

Can a Monkey Play a Synthesizer?

Along the lines of the "monkeys and typewriters" theory, this project involved monkeys (and some others) being given synthesizers to see if they could make music.

Wow, I Can't Imagine Why This Contraption Didn't Catch On...

And yes, I'm being sarcastic. The Hover Scooter was apparently a 1960's invention, a cross between a hover craft and a motor scooter, but as someone in the comments section said, it was probably fatal to any small creature it managed to roll over (not to mention the noise).

Back to the Future...Again - An Actual Hoverboard

Of a sort, anyway. If you're a fan of Michael J. Fox (love that guy) and/or his Back to the Future movies. you'll remember that in Back to the Future II, Marty McFly traveled to the future (the year 2015). One of the technologies there was the Hoverboard. Here's a video with an actual Hoverboard.




Here are the details about how this Hoverboard was made.

It was based on a work by French artist Nils Guadagnin.

I always find it fun when "the future" as shown in books and movies actually approaches or passes. We get to compare what people dreamed and what actually came to pass. What fun!

When Your House Sings to You...

I think I would quickly tire of this, but it's an interesting concept. The Singing House is a Quintron invention and it's controlled by the weather. I originally thought that it might be soothing, but after watching it, I'm not so sure. I'm one of those people who isn't a fan of wind chimes. I like them, and some of them are very clever and gorgeous with pretty sounds, but I don't like them all the time (as in when I'm trying to sleep or concentrate) and the nature of wind chimes is that there is no "off:" button. I'm guessing there would be an off button to this invention, so that's a plus in its favor.

Weird Ways of the Internet - Fluid Filled Spinning Table Video Goes Viral 2 Years After Being Uploaded

I have to admit that this table is pretty amazing. It just goes to show you how much stuff is out on the Internet and how difficult it is to locate items. But...better late than never. This looks like it would be a great conversation piece.

I want the 7-11 two blocks from my house to install one of these machines. Warm bread. Yum! (I love innovative, useful, and tasty inventions)! I could get rid of that bread machine that I'm using as a doorstop.

Ah, the Dream Hospital...
